2012 Metrobank MTAP DepEd Math Challenge – Elimination Stage

The Department of Education, Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) in collaboration with the Metrobank Foundation Inc. conducted a yearly activity to selected mathematics gifted/talented elementary and secondary students from both public and private schools in the City of Masbate.

True to its title, 2012 Metrobank MTAP DepEd Math Challenge – Elimination Stage for gifted students   basically aims to equip students for higher level of competition both in the regional and national level and to promote friendship, cooperation and healthy competition among the different public and private  schools (elementary/secondary levels) in the City Division.

The elimination stage for elementary level was conducted last January 19, 2012 at Jose Zurbito Sr. Elementary School for Masbate South District 1 and 2 and all Private Elementary Schools while Amancio Aguilar Elementary School accommodated contestants from Masbate North District 1 and 2 and on January 20, 2012 for secondary level at MNCHS, Main Campus. Ms. Jeanette M. Romblon and Dr. Jemnah A. Macabe  supervised the conduct of the test for Masbate South and Masbate North respectively with the assistance of the Division Math Officer in Charge Ms. Judy M. Quinanola of MNCHS. The chief examiners for Elementary were Ms. Liza Marie A. Abelita (JZSES) and Ms. Marly Salazar (AAES).  Proctors for JZSES came from Masbate North District and for AAES were from Masbate South Distirct.  The said activity was participated in by 34 Public Schools and 6 Private Schools in the elementary level and schools of which 6 came from Public and 3 from Private Secondary Schools. For every Grade/Year level each participating school registered at least 3 contestants/participants with them. They were the division qualifiers in their respective schools. A certificate of merit will be given to those schools, both elementary and secondary levels who obtained 35-39 points  for third honors, 40-44 points for second honors and 45 and above for first honors. Those qualified will be automatically be the contestants for the Division Orals.
